Goosebumps Horrorland on the DS is not going to wow anyone with graphics, sound or gameplay. It really looks like a game created for the PSone and doesn’t use the DS controls much. Having said that, I am really enjoying playing this game and rated it higher than I would have based on it’s individual parts. It is basically a collection of mini-games that are wrapped in a story about a boy trying to get through Horrorland. The mini-games are sometimes silly and easy but somehow entertaining. If you like theme parks and enjoyed either the Horrorland books/video then you will find this a nice diversion. Be warned the one thing about the game that is annoying is that the “camera angle” of the walking part of the game is third person and cannot be changed. Basically you watch the main character from the air in a fixed spot. You cannot control what you view like some games. This was not what I expected. Also the DS touch screen isn’t used in a way you would expect – in a driving bumber cars game you use the control pad, not the steering wheel that is show on the lower touch screen (this seemed odd). But for some reason, this game has won me over.

This is an entertaining game with several mini games. I usually purchase games that have some educational value and this seems lacking. The weird thing is…it is fun. My daughter loves it and I’ve become addicted. If you’re looking for a game that is simple but thrilling, this is the one. I would recommend it to anyone who loves Goosebumps.

I purchased this game and have fun it very fun but challenging. The graphics may not wow the heck out of you but it is addictive and fun. What you do is you are stranded at the famous Horrorland themepark and you play games(mini games) and you can trade for monster cards with other people wandering around the park and you can find coins in garbage cans, lamposts, and trees. You can use those to trade for cards or you can use them to play the mini games. There are games such as the Roller Ghoster, Mummy Run, Mini Golf, Test your stregth, and games you have to shoot vampires, ghosts, monsters, and bats. You can also go on rides like the coffin cruise and the roller ghoster. It has different levels you can unlock with frights which you win on how high your scores are in the mini games. Some games are creepy like the Flash Fright, Roller Ghoster, and the Scorpion one. They also have a bumper cars which you try to DESTROY your opponents. If you’re looking to challenge your friends I don’t beleive they have a multiplayer. This game is rated E10+ and I’d say ages 9 and up. It may scare little kids. I’d say all the goosebumps readersDS Owners would love this game. 5 Stars!
